Smocked Lobster - Busy Bees has Girls Dresses and Boys Shortalls
June 11, 2009
Who can honestly say they don't like lobster? I'm sure there's a few but you'll always find someone that lives off the curve. Maybe instead they like to eat bay leaves as a salad or other such nonsense. If made well, (not overcooked and rubberized), there is nothing more sublime that a tender buttery forkfull of lobster. That is why it is no surprise to see such a creature embroidered onto a piece of smocked clothing. Last year I was aware of some on regular cloth, but for some reason they have disappeared... scuttled under a rock, perhaps?

Busy Bees has two great pieces, a Girls Smocked Lobster Dress and Boys Smocked Lobster Shortall. The dress is built on red and white seersucker, with shoulder straps that tie (where else?) on the shoulder. There is a trio of lobsters on the front, split by two sets of shovel and pail. The boys is not overly smocked - it has a 4 inch by 3 inch patch of smocking, surrounded on all sides by the same red and white seersucker. Perfect outfits for a cook-out on the shore!

Lobster is actually super-easy to cook well on the grill. The other week we picked up a few frozen friends for dinner. Thawed them out, and then.. put them on the grill, turning every so often. When they turned red, they were done! What could be easier than that?
