Cinderella Smocked Dress by Vive la Fete

June 25th, 2009

Dreams really do come true! At least, the dreams of our daughter, who cannot have Cinderella read to her enough. Physically impossible. For a three-year old, the story of Cinderella works because there aren't really any scary/evil characters like you'd find in Snow White, for example. At that age it seems you have to be careful. The positive in our view was her recognition that the evil step-sisters and Mother were not nice. If she can recognize bad behavior from cartoons it should translate to the same in real life. So far that seems to be the case.

So why not embrace her obsession and give her an extra thrill with a Cinderella-themed Pants Set by Vive La Fete? The smocked part has a scene complete with horse-drawn carriage, castle, and of course the dazzlingly-attired Cinderella herself. The collar is white with pink ric-rac, and that same ric-rac extends to the cuffs and top hem. Down below on the pants there is a bunched ruffle for some extra pizazz. The clothes material is pink and white checked. Altogether a dynamite set!

The story of Cinderella has been arounda long time in various forms from different locations ranging from Greece to China and Japan. First seen in Italy, other European countries all created their own versions. The Brother's Grimm had a naturally gruesome storyline, but the modern fable with the usual icons like pumpkin-coach, fairy god-mother, and glass slippers was written by a Frenchman, Charles Perrault, in 1697, and called Cendrillon.
