Anavini Frog Smocked Longalls and Dresses - Freddie the Frog is back!
August 4th, 2009
One of the defining moments in the manners-building of my young life came at the hands of a little kids' show called "The New Zoo Revue." Remember Freddie the Frog, Henrietta Hippo, Charlie the Owl, Doug and Emmy Jo? Episodes on the show dealt with little life lessons which served to educate, elevate, and amuse the viewers. It still would be a great choice for kids today in my opinion.

So the whole gang are sitting down for lunch of soup and sandwiches. Henrietta Hippo asks Freddie the Frog to "Please pass the bread." Freddie tosses over some bread and of course it lands in Henrietta's soup, splashing her dress. I'll never forget this lesson in table manners and neither do my dining companions after they give me their cleaning bills.
Anavini has two smocked children's outfits in seeming unofficial tribute to the spirit of Freddie the Frog. The first is a boys' smocked longall with triple frog emblems on the front. It is made with green checked cloth and like most Anavini clothes, is fully lined.

For the girls there is the Anavini Frog Smocked Bishop Dress. The dress is a darker pink with green polka dots. Three frogs are perched on lily pads around the collar. Green ric-rac border the sleeve cuffs. There is a green ribbon with subtle white pin-stripes above the hem.

Have to sneak this one in: Vive la Fete has a Surfin' Frog boys bubble that is way cool. Of course, it is in green (naturally) checked cloth and white collar. The three frogs are in various poses: Hand stand, Hang Ten and Holding the board upright.

Back to the show: Apparently, Doug and Emmy Jo, as the humans on the show, felt a great attraction to each other and ending up marrying. This is back in the early 70s. They are still married and have there own production company. Hats off to them!
