Anavini - Smocked Overalls for Boys
Thursday, October 16th, 2008
What could be cooler for a young boy than the Anavini Race-Car Smocked Overall? I can't think of a single thing. The smocked front features two race cars sitting on a black and white racing stripe. The material is a light beige corduroy. If from Maison de Belles Choses, it comes with a long-sleeve shirt with a red collar. This one is fully lined for any time it's chilly out. To me these are unlike what I would normally regard as an overall, i.e. the traditional chain store type, but more like a longall with a lower neck and separate shirt. And no attached sleeves.

Those of you who read this blog are familiar with a theme of ours: Cute, masculine, and stylish clothes for boys exist, you just need to know where to look. Anavini has been around for almost two decades but the materials, craftsmanship, and classic smocking styles are something you might expect from an old-world company. In fact, they are based in El Salvador. The outfit is known for its' progressive employee benefits, which is a nice change from what we hear of from the (ahem) large country overseas which seems to make almost everything else the U.S. consumes.
The Anavini Dalmatian Firedog Smocked Overall features two Dalmatians sporting firefighter helmets. Is there anything little boys like more than Dogs and Fire-Engine icons? Well, maybe race-cars. It depends on the kid, I suppose. Anyway, like all Anavini, it is hand-smocked but in this case on checked cotton cloth instead of corduroy. Similar to the Race-Car overall, it is fully lined and comes complete with a long-sleeve shirt with red collar. It is part of the Velani Classics Collection.
